The last of the 12 yard skip triptych features the flowerbed in front of the kitchen. Its flowers were stunning in spring. It was part of what an estate agent might call a 'mature garden'. It had layers and depth which just kept giving. It did have to go though. Who voluntarily creates a penetrative damp hazard on the side of their building?! And it was blocking up an air brick.
There isn't much to this one. It was just a case of moving a cubic meter or two of earth and stone from one place to another on one of the hottest days of the year. Suffice to say the only clever part of this one was leaving it to last, such that the loose earth and mass of rubble would weigh down and compact the existing skip content to allow for more to fit in.
Having already demolished the driveway wall, this was child's play. And so, two buckets at a time, it slowly shrank.
It took a fair amount of time. Someone got badly sunburnt where they couldn't be bothered to put cream on their back. Joe and Lisa popped over for a barbeque on Saturday evening too, half way through the work.
Sunday saw it completed and the patio area much enlarged. We're looking forward to turning this into the al fresco dining area once it's repaved. In a year or two. Sigh.
