Load Star

With layouts and battle plans drawn up and the electrical work finally finished it was time to make our move. All the Ikea order numbers were meticulously itemised and researched ready for us to go in and order. Thus we set off on a Friday night for a supper of meatballs and flatpack.
It started off well, we ate and had our usual saunter through the store, wiggling through the arrowed walkways. We wanted one last check of the cabinet fronts, there being several different kinds of white. Eventually we reached an order point and set to with our product codes.

After struggling with a very poorly calibrated and laggy touch screen, it soon became apparent that maybe not everything was actually in stock in the Bristol branch. About half of it was, a random mix of carcasses (mainly big ones) and very few door fronts.
We sucked our teeth and decided that, since it was what we had planned to do that weekend, we should probably get what we could and see how far it got us.
With the order placed and payed for it was just a case of heading to the depot for pick-up.

There was a lot of it. Really lots. Thankfully Beth’s 1 series had packed up and we’d acquired a rather handy and much larger Volvo. A bit more roomy than the Z4 too. The boxes and trolleys kept appearing through the plastic curtains at an alarming rate though.
They were not just more numerous than expected but also far larger, only just fitting in. So began the game of car Tetris, every cubic centimetre analysed for optimum packing efficiency.

It just about got there in the end. It all got home too, though the rear facing mirrors of the car might have been slightly compromised. Foot-space too was sub-par.
Tomorrow’s job: assembly.
